Rotorua to host NetHui in October
Rotorua to host NetHui in October Rotorua has been named as one of three local communities that will host NetHui events in 2016. NetHui is a community-based event about the Internet and the people that use it. It is run by the community, for the community, and prioritises participation and interaction from attendees. InternetNZ’s Chief Executive, Jordan Carter, says that it’s important that NetHui involves all of the Internet community, including those that live outside of the major centres. “We want to broaden NetHui’s horizons and connect with more people who use the Internet across New Zealand. This is why we are taking NetHui on the road this year. “We are looking forward to working with Rotorua Lakes Council to bring NetHui to Rotorua and the wider community,” says Carter. Rotorua Lakes Council says they are delighted to host a day of the NetHui conference. “As a district we are actively looking to improve our digital capability and to showcase our digitally creative local businesses. We recently celebrated the completion of the ultra-fast broadband build in the city and we are excited by the possibilities this brings for our residents and our visitors.” NetHui events are open and inclusive, and are suitable for anyone who wants to talk about the Internet. Attendees are diverse, and could come from a range of sectors including business owners, education providers, regional start-ups and people from the general public who are interested in tech and the way the Internet is changing New Zealander’s lives. NetHui Rotorua will be held at the Rotorua Lakes Council on 17 October, and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. If you are interested in being part of the conversation at NetHui, visit the NetHui website at 2016.nethui.nz for more information. And if you have topics you would like to talk about, you can help us build the programme by filling in the expression of interest form on the website before 8 August.
