91% of New Zealanders are internet users according to the latest World Internet Project report published by AUT – so there are still 400,000 people who have never used the internet. The benefits of internet use are experienced across all aspects of our lives – education, employment, health, social, cultural, environmental. Every New Zealander needs to have access to these benefits. But the pieces of the jigsaw are becoming increasingly complex – multiple options for access, so many devices, different sets of skills.
This session will discuss the nature and scale of the digital divide in our region, identify the challenges in responding, and brainstorm possible actions.
